Feelin'/Not Feelin' List 2006
A brand new list for the ’06!

FEELIN'

Steven Colbert

NOT FEELIN'

50 Cent

  • THE COLBERT REPORT – Now that Daily Show alum Steven Colbert has spun off his own show on Comedy Central, the 11-midnight hour just got twice as good.  Colbert and Daily Show host Jon Stewart seem to have a friendly competition going on... which bodes well for more laughs ahead.
  • KANYE WEST I thought it was really cool that this guy had the cajones to go on national TV and say something that really needed to be said.  It made me go to his website and listen to some tracks.  I thought they were pretty good!  This guy actually writes about something other than “gangstas” and “beyotches” and elevates the art form a little bit.  Cool.
  • ROCKSLIDE I totally dig the new lineup and the tapes of the first gig I’m listening to tell me there’s a huge upside once we get a few gigs under our belt.  The guitar playing is stellar!
  • DEMS FINALLY GROW SOME CAJONES!!! – At last, the Democrats in Washington can feel the wind shifting.  Day by day, the Bush Administration is more exposed as its lies are discredited and its dirty deeds uncovered.  Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid got the base fired up and dealt the dastardly a blow by shutting down the Senate for a day and forcing a discussion of pre-war intelligence back onto the agenda.  A completely outmaneuvered Bill Frist could only whine “This is a slap in the face!”  Yeah, you guys really need one too!
  • SCOOTER INDICTED! – The first of many more of the NeoNaziCons, we can only hope.  Please oh please get Cheney and Rove too, willya?
  • LAME DUCK BUSH – Although I would much rather see him impeached and ousted, I will settle for him having to serve out the last three years of his term in disgrace; disempowered to do any more harm to America or anybody else. I bet when he read about Brownie's "Can I quit now?" email he totally knew how the guy felt!
  • THE DIGITAL REALM – We have already entered the era in which technology will enslave us.  Soon there will be worldwide governance of the World Wide Web and the End Times will be upon us.  In the meantime, Technology is still empowering the individual and that’s a good thing.
  • THE BLOGOSPHRE  - The valiant people who carve out their own little corner of the Internet and make their voices heard!  While the mainstream media cowered and kowtowed to the Bushies, a whole new generation of industrious reporters and pundits kept Freedom of the Press alive in this country.  In the dark days during which the NeoNaziCons thought they had the Media bought and paid for, a few lonely voices kept the flame.  Happily, the GOP still doesn’t “get” the Web; it remains a largely Blue domain.  It’s going to give us a big edge in 2006 and 2008.  Thanks for keeping hope alive, guys.
  • NO FASCIST USA!!! – What happened to the America we all thought we knew?  Where’s the America that stood for something, or at least gave lip service to standing for something?  When did “We the People” ask our government to carry out imperialism, kidnapping, executions, plunder, pillage, election fraud, money laundering and torture IN OUR NAME?  I didn’t ask them to do any of  that, did you?
  • 50 CENT – For the life of me, I don’t know why this guy is so unbelievably huge.  He can’t sing for s**t, recited rhymes to pre-recorded canned music.  His music has no Soul, no Funk.  And yet he’s a multimedia superstar!  I totally don’t get it.
  • ROD STEWART - "Et tu, Rod the Mod?" To see a performer who was once a Rock and Roll giant like Stewart sing wussy lounge music like a bad wedding singer who doesn't know he s**ks is most disheartening. It reminds me why John Lennon wanted to have "the F.U. money" - so he wouldn't be reduced to Rod's sad state. I am thoroughly dismayed to see the man who made "Every Picture Tells a Story" come out with this drivel. And to have it do so well on the charts! I'm still scratching my head.
  • ROVE REMAINS – If they oust no other Bushie miscreant with the Plamegate investigations, I will be very happy if they only get Karl Rove.  His arrogance dearly needs to be humbled!  Plus if Dumbya doesn’t have ol’ “Turd Blossom” to tell him what to do, he’ll be screwed (see “Harriet Meiers”).
  • CHENEY!!! -  OMG just typing the name makes my skin crawl.  Whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, how can you not see Our Dear Vice President as Evil Incarnate?  Ugh, Cheney and that sneer of his. Elvis he’s not - he is truly the Darth Vader of America!  What kind of man actively campaigns for the right to torture detainees, when our nation was a signatory of the Geneva Conventions and has historically been opposed to it?  What colossal arrogance the man must have.  Unbelievable!!! Despite your best efforts, THIS IS STILL AMERICA SUCKA!!!
  • LAW COMES TO THE INTERNET? – We have already entered the era in which technology will enslave us.  Soon there will be worldwide governance of the World Wide Web. Arraugh!  Big Brother and World Government take another step forward!
  • HOWARD STERN Whether you love him or hate him, Howard Stern has changed the American cultural landscape.  Not for the better, I’m afraid.  He has lowered the bar of American culture in a lot of ways.   He used to rule but he made two key mistakes – losing Jackie “the Joke Man” Martling who wrote all his best bits and losing he ex-wife Alison, who kept him grounded.  I for one will not be following him to XM.
