In Memorium - My Sense of Humor 1956 - 2004
by George Gelish

It's getting to the point where I can't laugh about it anymore...

Let's take a moment to commemorate the untimely demise of my political sense of humor. Today was the day I lost my ability to laugh at the apalling state of affairs in America and the even catastrophic events that loom in the offing.

  • They are digging up the cornerstones of the Republic and nobody seems to care.
  • They are making it impossible to ever trust the voting system again, and nobody seems to care.
  • Any day now, they will be restarting the draft and sending our children to die for Halliburton, and nobody seems to care.
  • They abridge our civil rights in the name of "security" and nobody seems to care.
  • They are recklessly bankrupting the treasury and undermining the economy to give windfalls to their Corporate cronies, and nobody seems to care.
  • They are eviscerating the educational system and foisting medication on children for the benefit of the drug companies, and nobody seems to care.
  • They give lip service to supporting the troops in Iraq while denying them the wherewithal to win the peace, and nobody seems to care.
  • They perpetuate bigotry and exclusion and profiteering and they the nerve - THE NERVE! - to call themselves Christians; posturing as though they had the moral high ground, and nobody seems to care.
  • They are dismantling Social Security for their own insidious gain and nobody seems to care.

They have to be stopped, and NOBODY'S DOING ANYTHING!!!!

I'm scared, and I'm frustrated, and I'm angry, and I'm ready to fight. I hate these bastards more than words can say and I want to help stop them but I don't know what to do. Any thoughts? Anybody got a clue? Please, I'm desperate!!!

I love my country - HOW CAN WE SAVE IT?????
